March 14- White Day, cloudy skies wet streets.

March 14- White Day, cloudy skies wet streets. Just made bus. Uh oh, Kokusai is entirely closed due to bad conditions. Well hotel is paid for, suppose I can spend all day cooking in the onsen. Maybe can squeeze in a few runs tomorrow morning & it’ll be powder darake? We’ll see, they’ll announce later what will happen.

Holy cow, i am tapped.

Holy cow, I am tapped. I haven’t been this spent in ages! No new snow, sun with high alt haze clouds. Not exactly powder, but i pounded the trees for fresh lines virtually every run. As good as the time we poached Flute at WB, except doing it all day!
Sometimes it pays to be a gaijin and not have the mentality of must stay on accepted course. I saw less than a handful go into the trees. At WB the lines i was going through would been long tracked out. Amazing!
Woah dudes, some guy bought one of the meat lolipops.
I am so tuckered out I’m not sure what 2 do for food. It’s a good sore, except for my sinus’ screaming. Im sure the cig smoke has something 2 do with that. Japan’s come a ways, lots places are now nonsmoking, but
many restaurants are not, esp ones geared for business men and non family, which unfortunately the good yakitori, gyutan, etc places are. And my hotel room is a smoking one. When i step out of elevator i get assailed by the wall of smoke smell. I’ve been stuffing a towel along bottom of door, running the bathroom fan all night, and open the window. I’m thankful that the window does open & the temp works out. That’s the one thing im not looking forward 2.

March 12- wake up to sunny skies, fresh snow

March 12- wake up to sunny skies, fresh snow on ground. Once again frantic breakfast & dash to bus station. On bus, cloudy & sporadic snow, looks good. Forecast calls for clearing sunny later, good photo ops!

@#%!

Gadfunnit! Managed to find a binding toe strap that will work then find the special bolt is crossthreaded and doesn’t go in straight. Damn made in China stuff! & this stuff is Flows top of line & not cheap. I like the design, this top model works well, but this hardware! I lost the this same bolt on the other foot strap. Guess I’m going to mash this bolt together & hope it doesnt strip out.

Having some equipment probs.

Oh yeah, having some equipment probs. Lower BOA giving probs throughout day. My twiggy ankles & feet are still 2 narrow for new boots even though I got women’s model. I crank them down so much the cables keep getting tangled in the reels. Also one of the toe straps on my binding snapped. Hope i can find replacement.

Now that was what i came here 4!

Now that was what i came here 4! I got my powder. Knee deep pow over crusty hardpack, but pow nonetheless! I am happy now. Snowed throughout day w/brief period of sun. The high winds on this morning’s forecast didn’t effect us.
On bus back to Sapporo, packed w/schoolkids. Snow coming down again as waiting 2 depart. No question, were coming back tomorrow!

Arrr! PPP!

Powder poachin pirates! Bigfoot like! Kokusai going off! Knee deep pow, low crowds, even the “crappy” on piste rivals best what I’ve gotten at WB.
Lunch yummy & reasonable!
Help us, were surrounded by cute asian girls everywhere!
