Angryburger

Whoa! Did Fabio get some new burger that instantly fell apart and got sauce everywhere? Nope, this is the newest seasonal offering from Burger King, the Angry Whopper. All the radio spot hype made the jalapenos, angry onions, and angry sauce out to be too hot to handle by a mere mortal, but of course this is just advertising hype. If they really made it as hot as they intimated it was they’d probably get sued. From some of the stuff I’ve seen online while looking for the nutritional information, it appears that this burger launched in the UK and Australia before it hit North America (there are pictures of RHD automobiles, but I don’t care to figure out if they are UK or AUS models).

The flavor is essentially a Whopper with Cheese, with the occasional burn of a pickled jalapeno. The “Angry Sauce” itself has a flavor, but isn’t really all that hot: If one were to put about 5 shakes of Tabasco on a regular Whopper, it’d be hotter. The bacon adds its goodness to the mix, and the fried onions add a bit of flavor too, but the primary addition that these bring with them to the table is salt. As the fried coating of the onions breaks down, it helps absorb the sauce, mayo and whatnot in the burger, so the angry Whopper seems to be less messy than a standard one – Fabio would appreciate this! The substitution of pepperjack cheese doesn’t seem to make much of a flavor difference, since there is the bacon and sauce overrunning everything.

This burger is good, but not significantly better than a standard Whopper with Cheese. At most it serves as a temporary remedy to habituation boredom. 880 calories for the burger alone. Available in double or triple versions for those who want to gamble with an early coronary or colon cancer.
