Closing out the year

PictureSo spending this last day of the year on mundane news. The new kitty that adopted us a number of months ago had gotten into some kind of altercation a bit before Thanksgiving. Her injury became ugly just before I left for my Whistler trip, so there was a bit of last second rushing as we wrangled her into a box and I dropped her off at the vet barely an hour before I left for the airport. It turns out the injury was a bit more serious and she required some surgery, but she’s now been back home for a few weeks and doing fine. She has this funny pom-pom tail from having her butt shaved. She’s up to her lizard (& one dove) hunting. And just recently looks like now using the litter box I bought when I brought her home. I’m glad for that. I’ll be atempting the next task of giving her a worm (or rather de-worm) pill in a few weeks. Vet gave her one a week ago when I stopped by after seeing an oogie wormy thing on her butt. Ah the wonders of pet ownership.

The other mundane thing I was wrapping up was replacing the water heater. The hot water flow was slowing to a trickle in the house and you could hear all kinda of noise from the heater when you ran the hot water. I’m sure there’s all kinda of krust in there. Could attempt to replace elements & anode, but I figured rather just buy a good new heater. It was delivered the next day and installed. Yes, I payed almost as much as I paid for the heater itself to have it installed. Yes, I could have easily installed it myself. But yes, it was easier to pay to have someone muscle it in place, hook it up, & haul away the old one. And no, I didn’t get the fancy heat pump one, that was just a bit too much coin. It would take years to recoup the cost, although I now see that there are some that come with an option to hook up an air duct to it so you can use it to in effect air condition a space. Hmmm, enclose the garage and air condition it….

  • Glad little Kitty is ok. Maybe that litter box will cut down on the serious cat pee smell in your garage!

  • Yeah, the stinky I think is mostly old Kat. Think she was “fixed” late so she still goes around occasionally being naughty & marking things, like my wheels, Fabio’s bumper, & she’s recently been kicked out of house for peeing in kitchen & my room. I think she’s doing it to piss me off (har har).

  • Did the older cat start peeing all over when the new cat showed up? Could be some territorial behavior going on.

  • You shoulda called me on the water heater install, I did mine in like an hour. Then reuse old one for Bio Diesel refinery.

  • That tail is funny.
