Labor Day trip

the summer bike trip begins. The Hawaiian air flight to Seattle uneventful. they still do a complimentary meal. Nothing to write about, but the steamed beans were surprisingly not a mushy bunch of green tubes.

gotta travel whith Ckucky, he scored his bike free, he scored a Ford Transit 12 passenger van, the hotel room is right by the elevator.

only drama so far has been Vince’s one day passport renewal. Time for a good morning beer and choco chip cookie!

Non-snow Days

This SLC trip we took two non-snowboarding days, not counting arrival and departure days. Park City discontinued their free day pass with same day flight ticket deal so no incentive there. on Tuesday we went to the Hill Aerospace musem. It was pretty neat, lots of aircraft including a SR71 Blackbird and A10. Thursday we took a long drive to Nine Mile Canyon, which actually is somthing like 40 miles. We only got through maybe half of it. The main attraction are the numerous native petroglyphs and rock art sites. We couldn’t find a couple that had us hiking around in search of, but we found a bunch of others, pretty cool!

i will update with pictures later.

PowMow

Saturday at Powder Mountain turned out to be good. Flurries broken by periods of sun throughout the day. Not deep powder as exclaimed by some skier who rode past, not even close, but it was welcome and good.

woke up this Sunday morning to see our flight has been delayed. Hey we could go ninja in a few hours at Brighton which reports 8″ over last day in addition to the previous 12. I’m sure it’s all tracked out though. Looks like we’re going to be hanging out at SLC airport.

Snow, finally

Friday at Brighton was actually not bad. Not powder pounding by any stretch, but enough to have some freshies. The snow showers continued through the night, then web reports brighton had 8″ over the day, 12″ total. So the debate this morning was to hit Brighton again, or pound PowMow which reports only 3″. In the end, anti-crowd has won out. We figure all of Utah is going to be at Brighton as it reports the highest snowfall, it’s been over a week since last snow, and it’s the weekend. We had a good day at Brighton so figure give PowMow another chance.

Breakfast mayhem

Man, there’s all the kids here. Thankfully it families not school group so they weren’t running up & down the halls. Making late breakfast today quite chaotic. No new snow and its a holiday so we’re taking the day off from riding to avoid crowds. Slim chance of maybe  a dusting over crust in the forecast today. Slim. Maybe they’re forecasting is good as Hawaii where last week there was that 90 percent chance of rain day, but it ended up being a beautiful ride night? Unfortunately they’re pretty good forecasting here.

Hill Aerospace Museum

Sunday sunny sunday

forecast is for it to get cooler today. We’re not in any rush, it’s not like conditions are stellar or get better. Just finishing the typical freebie continental hotel breakfast at 9:00 this morning. Prob going to see how things are at Solitude.

Can you say, "tracked out!"

Sno-not

The Fab & I arrived in SlC uneventfully today to be greeted with sunny 60 degree weather and dishearteningly Sno bare mountains.

we visited a couple stores. Highlight so far I thnk was lunch at siegfried’s. Flight to seatac was so fast only got a couple hours of fitfull sleep. Having trouble staying up, time for power disco nap.

OGG

Doodeedoo, fire alarm going off at airport. Stuck waiting in security. Will I have time to check out the renovated pimp bathrooms? Will I end up eating all the stillwells cream horns standing here? Looks like no after work airport beer this time.

Darned Mice

The mouse got Vince!

TR Phone Home

Aloha, SNM fans. Self-invited guest blogger “Toki-doki” here (aptly dubbed, if I may say so myself) to offer explanation, reflection, and atonement for the weird but thankfully brief disturbance I inflicted on the Whistler biketrip guys last week. Not sure which category this falls into, I think it’s mostly “rant” obliquely related to “culture” and “travel”, but more likely it’ll make the reader want to “SUAR”. If you had “roast”, as in celebrity roast, this would sit squarely in that category since Root gets raked pretty good over the coals (or rolled into the imu, if we’re going for regional flavor). And while it’s definitely not food review, I submit the accompanying pink drink photo (more about it later) to counterbalance all the beer-and-gear weighing down this site – nah, actually I don’t have a visual aid for this story, but I figured we owe a tribute to the WAG/SOs [wives and girlfriends/significant others] who steadfastly keep calm and carry on through whatevah, and who will hopefully find this parable entertaining as well.
