It’s the plumber, he’s come to fix the…

So for the past weeks we’ve been having hot water issues. Thought it was the heater so I was mucking around with first calling the heater company since its less than two years old. Ended up then on my own changing out the thermostat and heating elements. The electric bill came with notice about the huge spike in electricity usage! What is going on? Was about to get a new heater, then the water guy came by and told us there’s been a spike in our water usage!

Damn, there’s a hidden leak in our hot water line. That explains it now. But the house is built direct on the slab, so the piping goes into the slab. So this is not looking pretty. I did some Dr. Plumbing myself with a stethoscope, could hear water running at the heater and kitchen pipes, but not much at the bathrooms, so hopefully the leak was near the heater. Time to call in the pros.

Science!

So is it sad that I see a stunning woman at Don Quixotes, and can’t help but wonder how much of her is a product of modern science? Although if so, I’d like to shake the hand of the surgeon because it was a perfect job.

Unpoopy Cat

Last week I had to take our cat to the vet. Not sure if it qualifies as another of her lives, it potentially could have been if left untreated. She hadn’t been eating much if anything for a few days. It turns out she was suffering from a severe case of the stuckies and it wasn’t going to fix itself. Poor kitty had to take it IDB to get things going again. She stayed at the vets for a couple days. She’s home now and doing well. I’ve told dad to not give her too much dry food, she’s had only wet for now.

Escalate!

Trippy, the Beretania Safeway has a shopping cart escalator!

Breaking the Dry Spell

Heard the HFD truck go up the street, had to think, could it be? It’s actually been a long time, but sure enough a couple minutes later heard the whine of HFD 1 flying in. The last time they came by was about a month ago at night but they flew past us. They were actually at Kamiloiki Park. my guess was either Mariners of Yoga Twins trail.

Anyway, today it was back to Koko Crater just before lunch.

Hon Fubuki

16:00 and on bus heading back to Sapporo. While snow conditions were good, riding comfort pretty harsh with the whipping winds. We called it an early day, we got some good runs in. Bus is slowly making its way back, now this is an honest blizzard. There’s stilla bout seven car lengths visibility so it’s not too worrying. Am now seriously considering riding Sunday and got straight to airport. Stinky riders!

Fubuki

Yesterday rode kokusai with the full crew. Not a whole lot of overnight snow reported, but conditions turned out excellent! The forecast high winds did roll in early afternnoon 14:00 ended up being our last run as they stowed away the gondolas as the winds and snow started whipping around!
Heading out this morning with Fab, overnight had rains in town. Right now tv tower thermometer reported -0.1C. Sunny with clouds sockng in the mountains. Of course the forecast calls for heavy snow starting this afternoon throught tonight and easing tomorrow, when we’re leaving. Never fails!

Kun Kun Kun!

Yesterday was shopping day. Visited Yodobashi & Bic cameras. Japan seems to be big on ions, ion air cleaner like in our room, ion ray gun hair dryer in our bathroom, ion flat screen. Found an awesome kids picture book for J, I’d read it to my kids if I ever had any, “Fun Fun Fu—n!”

Pow!

Yesterday was spent pounding the pow that had fallen overnight. Primo conditions, although we got stuck in a junk spot that took a lot of work to get through. Was an awesome day of riding.
Derek and I found a Bikkuri Donkey in the underground by Odori. Was quite good hamburger steak stuff.
The riding was so good that I have no pictures and by the time we got back was so tuckered out that quickly passed out.
Today is going to be a rest day, no significant new snofall.

Beer Is Good – Aloha Beer Company Aloha Lager

Finally found it at Foodland, pours a light clear yellow with moderate head. Clean crisp fairly dry beer. A little bitter that doesn’t linger very long. Light mouthfeel. Easy drinking, but on the other hand utterly unremarkable. Honestly I don’t think it’s much different than a mass market domestic beer.

Barely 2 out of 4 beer bong monkeys.
